SELIDEF is a non-governmental organisation registered with the NGO Coordination Board in Kenya in 1999 and headquartered in Kitale (Trans-Nzoia county, Kenya). As a development enabler and facilitator, SELIDEF is focusing on uplifting socio-economic development in the hard-to-reach communities.

Our Vision: A society with reduced poverty levels where the holistic needs of the people are met. Our Mission: Holistic work for the welfare and motivation of the dignity for promotion of living standards by focusing on in-depth values Our Goal: To contribute to the creation of sustainable livelihoods for rural communities. Our Purpose: Eco-friendly technologies promoted & adopted by local communities. Our Programs: Natural resource management, Water sanitation & hygiene, Leadership & governance.

1. Natural Resource Management: Since much of the conflict in Kenya is resource-based ie, land, forests, water body, hunger, we saw it prudent to engage local communities on productive, responsible usage of natural resources.

2. Water, Sanitation & Health: With a high rate of mortality for mothers and newborn children in Kenya caused partly by poor sanitation practices. These cause poor school attendance, labour productivity, and caregiving.

3. Leadership & Governance: With the impact of the 2007/08 Post Election Violence with high involvement of unemployed youth still fresh in mind, SELIDEF is targeting youths with peace messaging.
